Biography
After twenty years of teaching elementary art (and loving it) it was time to retire and shake out that long list of “want – to-do’s”. On the back burner for a long time had been a desire to paint again. The setting was perfect – We live in a log cabin in the woods of rural Iowa (Yes, Iowa has more than just corn!) and we are surrounded by the most beautiful scenery anywhere. In fact, I often feel that I live inside a painting. Iowa’s rolling hills and wide open spaces can be as breathtaking as any mountain vista. Working in my newly-created little studio back in our woods is where I feel most at peace and all is right with the world.
Family: Married to my best friend, John, for forty years (!)
Two fabulous grown children who live too far away
Three perfect grandchildren (the loves of my life)
One not-so-perfect golden retriever who we love anyway
My interests: art, anything about the outdoors, long-distance running, politics, peace issues, reading, quilting, English tutoring, mentoring, eating anything I didn’t cook
My favorite things (Thanks for asking): sunshine, change of seasons, sound of rain on the roof, smell of pine trees, running down hill with the wind at my back, phone calls from my children, canoe trips with John and Strider, butterflies, mocha lattes with cinnamon donuts, hugs and smiles from our grandchildren, moss on rocks, ferns in the forest ‚baby giggles……(Is this more than you wanted to know about me??)
Thanks for coming to my site,
Mary Campbell
