Pastels
I recently re-discovered my love for working with pastels. I hadn’t used them since college, and I’d forgotten how I love the process of layering the colors. I usually like to work quite loosely and freely, so this was a natural fit for me. I particularly admire the work of Elizabeth Mowry. Favorite subjects at the moment: the landscape around me. I LOVE running the country roads around our area, and many of my landscapes reflect the changing colors of the seasons found in the rolling hills and fields. I often feel that I am part of a painting as I run, particularly in the fall with the rust and golden colors which change daily. I also dearly love to paint my beloved woods, and the dramatic play of light and shadow on the trails outside the studio.

Watercolors
Watercolor painting has always been my passion. I love the soft subtle colors and the “happy accidents” that often happen when you least expect it. It definitely is not the medium of choice for someone who needs complete control.
